Web design for plumbers

Plumber website design that brings in the jobs you actually want

Here’s something most plumbers already know. A dripping tap and a new boiler are completely different customers. One wants someone now, at a fair price, and will ring the first number that looks trustworthy. The other is spending thousands, will compare three quotes and might take a fortnight to decide.

A lot of plumbing websites treat both the same way, with one page listing everything from leaks to full central heating systems. The result is that the work you’d love more of gets lost in the noise.

Decide what the website is for

Before we design anything, we’ll ask which jobs you want more of. If you’re trying to move away from callouts and towards installations, the site should lead with boiler replacements, heating upgrades or bathrooms, and give each of those its own page. If you’re a one-person business who mostly does reactive work, the job is different: get the phone number on screen fast, make it tappable, and say plainly which areas you cover.

Neither approach is wrong. Trying to do both on one cluttered page usually is.

The details people check before they call

  • Your Gas Safe registration number, if you do gas work. Your website counts as advertising, so it belongs there, and people do look it up.
  • Any manufacturer accreditations you hold, such as being an approved installer for a boiler brand.
  • The towns and villages you cover, written out properly rather than “Shropshire and surrounding areas”.
  • Whether you actually do emergency work. If you don’t, say so. It saves you a lot of awkward calls at 11pm.
  • Real reviews, ideally linked to your Google profile.

That last point matters more than most. When someone searches for a plumber near them, the map results and reviews often appear before the ordinary listings. We’ve written about how that works in our guide to local search and the map pack.

Fast on a phone, because that’s where they’ll be

Most people looking for a plumber are standing in a kitchen holding a phone, quite possibly with a bucket under the sink. A site that loads slowly or hides the number behind a menu loses that job in seconds. Everything we build is responsive and lightweight, and the call button sits where a thumb can find it.

What it costs

Our Classic Website is £30 a month including VAT and suits most sole traders well: up to 15 pages, hosting, SSL, a contact form and unlimited phone and email support. If you want to add pages for each service and area yourself, or take payments online, the Premium Website is £45 a month. There’s no setup fee and no minimum term, and you can compare both on our web design packages page.

Many plumbers we speak to work alongside electricians and builders, so those pages might be useful if you’re recommending us to someone.

Questions plumbers often ask us

Should I list every plumbing job I do?

List them, but don’t give them equal weight. Pick the two or three types of work you want more of and give each its own page with proper detail. The smaller jobs can sit together on one page. That way the site points people towards the work that pays best.

Do I need to show my Gas Safe number on my website?

If you advertise gas work, you should show your Gas Safe registration number, and a website counts as advertising. It also reassures customers, because they can check it on the Gas Safe Register before they call you.

Will my website help me appear on Google Maps?

The map results are driven mainly by your Google Business Profile, reviews and how close you are to the person searching. A good website supports that by confirming who you are, what you do and where you work, and by linking the two together properly.

Can customers book or pay online?

Online payments, including cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna, are part of the Premium Website at £45 a month. Custom forms are included too, so you could ask for photos of a problem before quoting.

I’m a sole trader. Is this overkill for me?

Not at all. Plenty of our customers are one-person businesses. The Classic Website at £30 a month gives you a proper site with up to 15 pages, and we look after the technical side so you can get on with the work.

Can I leave if it doesn’t work out?

Yes. There is no minimum term and no setup fee, so you can cancel whenever you like.
