Web design for online shops
Ecommerce website design for small businesses that make and sell real things
Selling online is easier than it has ever been to start, and harder than it looks to do well. The shops that work are rarely the ones with the most features. They’re the ones where a customer can find the product, trust the business and pay without a single moment of doubt.
If you make, grow or stock things in Shropshire and want to sell them beyond your doorstep, this is the kind of shop we build.
Products that sell themselves
- Clear product photographs from more than one angle, with sizes and materials shown properly
- Honest descriptions written for customers, not copied from a supplier’s catalogue
- Delivery costs and times shown before the checkout, not sprung on people at the end
- A returns policy that’s easy to find and easy to understand
Checkout without friction
The Premium Website includes ecommerce and online payments, with cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna. Fewer form fields and familiar payment options mean fewer abandoned baskets. You can add products, change prices and manage stock yourself through the content management system, and order notifications arrive in your inbox.
Do you need a full shop at all?
Not always. If you sell a handful of things, take deposits or sell tickets, a simpler payment form may be all you need, and it is far less work to run. We’ll tell you honestly which suits you. For a real example of a small product business selling online, see our Wildwood Worm Counts case study.
What it costs
Our Classic Website is £30 a month including VAT: up to 15 pages, up to 50 images, hosting, SSL, a business mailbox, a contact form and unlimited phone and email support. For selling online the Premium Website is the one you need. Our photographer can shoot your products too, from £420 for 50 photos. There’s no setup fee and no minimum term, and you can compare both on our web design packages page.
