Web design for garages

Garage website design for independent garages and mechanics

Nobody wakes up excited to book an MOT. They do it because the reminder has arrived, or the warning light has come on, and they want it sorted with as little fuss as possible. A good garage website makes that easy, and makes your garage feel like the obvious choice over the dealership down the road.

The questions every driver has

Almost every visitor to a garage website wants the answer to one of these:

  • Do you do what I need? MOTs, servicing, diagnostics, tyres, brakes, clutches, air conditioning.
  • Do you work on my car? Some garages specialise in particular makes, vans, classics or electric and hybrid cars.
  • How much will it cost, roughly?
  • When are you open, and can I wait or will I need a lift?
  • How do I book?

If those answers are all on your site and easy to find, you’ve done most of the work. If any are missing, people ring the next garage.

Prices, even rough ones

Garages are often nervous about publishing prices, and it’s understandable when every car is different. But fixed price work, like MOTs, interim and full services or a diagnostic check, is exactly what people compare. The maximum MOT fee is set by the government and plenty of independents charge less, so if you do, say so. For everything else, explain how you quote and that you’ll always call before doing extra work. That one sentence reassures people more than you might expect.

Booking without the phone tag

Many drivers would rather book an MOT at 9pm on their sofa than ring during the working day. Our Premium package includes custom forms, so customers can request a date, give their registration and describe the problem in one go. You confirm when it suits you. It also helps to link to the government’s free MOT history checker, which is a helpful little touch for anyone buying a used car.

Opening hours and location matter more than usual

People need to drop the car off, so make sure your address, a map and your opening hours are right on the website and on your Google Business Profile. If they don’t match, both Google and your customers get confused. Our guide to local search and the map pack explains why that matters so much.

What it costs

The Classic Website is £30 a month including VAT and covers up to 15 pages, hosting, SSL, a contact form and support. If you want booking forms or to update prices and offers yourself, the Premium Website is £45 a month. No setup fee, no minimum term, and you can compare both on our web design packages page.

Questions garages often ask us

Should a garage put prices on its website?

For fixed price work such as MOTs and servicing, yes. People compare these and are more likely to book when they can see the cost. For repairs, explain how you quote and that you will call before doing anything extra.

Can customers book an MOT online?

With our Premium Website you can have a custom booking request form, so customers can ask for a date, give their registration and describe any problems. You then confirm the booking with them.

Should I mention the makes of car I specialise in?

Yes. If you specialise in particular makes, vans, classics, or electric and hybrid vehicles, give that its own section. Drivers often search for exactly that.

Why do my opening hours matter so much?

Because customers need to drop the car off and collect it. Your hours, address and phone number should match across your website and your Google Business Profile, so drivers and search engines both get the right information.

How much is a garage website?

Our packages are £30 or £45 a month including VAT, with no setup fee and no minimum term. Hosting, SSL and support are included.

How quickly can it go live?

Most websites are live within 14 working days once we have your content, photos and brief.
